Our Belief
Why Film
Film reaches people whatever their position or situation. And it moves them.
Our Four rules.
Start with the people.
1.
We begin with the people in the film, not with the brief. We stay long enough for them to say what is hard to say.
Never the same film twice.
2.
We do not repeat one style. Each film takes the form that its story needs.
Light it from every side.
3.
A film made with good intentions can still hurt the people in it. We question the common view, our own assumptions, and the film itself.
Beauty has to carry the story.
4.
Our team works to feature-film quality. Beautiful images alone are soon forgotten. They last when they carry the story.

Y A S U H I R O T A M U R A
Yasuhiro Tamura directs cinematic, author-driven visual storytelling across feature films, brand work and content. Alongside client work, he builds long-term movements around film — bringing together the people closest to a subject through production, participatory events and education programs, so that a film becomes the start of something rather than the end.
In 2023 he founded NPO Black Star Label, a non-profit film label producing feature films on social issues that conventional funding won't touch, sustained through fundraising, corporate training and community programs.
Recipient of numerous film awards in Japan and internationally. Selected for Forbes Japan's NEXT100.
